Bailarín, profesor y coreógrafo de danza moderna estadounidense. Estudió en la Denishawn School y fue miembro de su compañía en la década de 1920. En 1928 cofundó con Doris Humphrey la Humphrey-Weidman school y su compañía de danza, para la cual creó numerosas coreografías. En sus bailes, a menudo cómicos y satíricos, utilizaba una pantomima abstracta y rítmica. En 1945 fundó su propia escuela y, en 1948, la Theatre Dance Company, para la cual compuso su coreografía más importante, Fables for Our Time. Continuó enseñando, componiendo coreografías y bailando hasta la década de 1970.
